Automatic Glass Logistics System
An important complement to automated window production
Precious working time goes lost in many production facilities because of searching for the right glass pane being stored disorderly. In order to eliminate this problem, Urban’s first glass logistics system was put into operation in 2010. In the meantime, about 350000 glass panes had been sorted into the intermediate buffer shelves and conveyed into the glazing station.
A nice side effect nobody had been thinking of before: The number of glass panes damaged through improper handling in the production could be reduced to almost zero.
Around 6 tons of glass per day had to be manually moved by staff members. This heavy load is now handled by the glass logistics system.
