The step into a new dimension with Urban
Feba Fensterbau GmbH has found the right partner
A giant project of the special kind was the three stage production assembly carried out by Urban GmbH & Co. Maschinenbau KG at Feba Fensterbau GmbH in Burbach, Germany.
The incredible number of 53 truck loads was necessary to install the equipment for a new special production line, two frame lines and two sash lines in three manufacturing halls. Since then, ten four head welding machines, type AKS 6600, five corner cleaning machines (four SV 800 and one SV 840), three automatic sash assembly stations FBA, one glass bonding station GVS as well as the necessary logistic units are doing a reliable job there. The Urban machinery package is completed by a whole lot of frame workplaces and cycle independent overlap saws.
THE BEST CONCEPT
“Urban offered the best concept how to get ahead with our production to cope with future challenges. Our goal was a 30% capacity increase in our PVC manufacture. This is definitely possible thanks to the new investment we made” explains authorized signatory and technical manager of Feba Fensterbau GmbH, Thomas Menk.
Feba’s PVC manufacture has now reached a possible performance of 1200 window elements per 8 hour shift. Thomas Menk and his team feel that they are in good hands
with their new machinery partner. “For such a big investment volume it’s important to have a reliable partner with a long- standing experience and sophisticated technological know-how. Moreover, you must be sure that such a partner does not only exist today and tomorrow but also the day after tomorrow which is the case with Urban” says Menk who is glad about the many years of common cooperation.
THE NEW VENTURE
Feba took a chance on something new with Urban as their new machinery and system partner.
“In the field of special manufacture, we have started with bonding techniques. This machining step had not been part in our production process so far” explains Menk.
ONLY BIG PROJECTS
It goes without saying that the project team of Urban GmbH & Co. Fensterbau KG in Memmingen had to face a great challenge with the installation in Burbach. “Each of the three installation phases was a major project of its own in view of the dimensions involved” explains project manager Uwe Pfahl who is very content with the whole handling, especially because Urban’s technology in practice corresponds to the cycle time calculation promised before by Uwe Pfahl and Wilfried Mildenberger from the sales department. “A very fast and efficient thoughput of elements was achieved through process optimization” says Pfahl.
The result was an automatic manufacture on a top level. Process optimization and highest flexibility are ensured thanks to the completely networked manufacture where not only production machines but also distribution buffer units communicate with one another. Thus, Feba staff members working in special manufacture and at both frame lines have now individual access to all elements without wasting time on searching.
