For the second time, trainees had the opportunity to visit our facility in Fredericton, Canada, as part of their vocational training. The trip is part of a program that gives particularly high-performing trainees the chance to gain international experience and get to know the day-to-day work environment at another location.
This year, Kenan, a trainee mechatronics technician, and Benjamin, a trainee technical product designer, were selected for this special opportunity. In the following report, they share their impressions and experiences with our Canadian colleagues:
We were greeted with a big smile by Harald (production manager) as soon as we arrived at the airport in Fredericton. He took excellent care of us throughout our entire stay. Even though we were many miles away from our home location, we felt welcome from the very first moment. It was especially nice to see that this warm and welcoming atmosphere continued at the company. We were very impressed by the open exchange and by how much time everyone took to answer our questions.
During our stay, we had the opportunity to experience everyday working life at the Canadian facility firsthand. It was fascinating to see how similar many processes are while also discovering the different approaches taken in certain areas of the company. These experiences showed us how important communication and exchange between our locations are and how much we can learn from one another.
In addition to gaining professional insights, we also had the opportunity to explore Canada’s impressive landscapes. One of our highlights was the trip to St. Andrews, where we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the small coastal town. Also impressive was our visit to the Hopewell Rocks, with their spectacular rock formations and the fascinating difference between low and high tide.
Another highlight was taking part in the company golf competition. To make sure we were well prepared, Harald gave us some golf training beforehand. The competition itself was a great opportunity to meet colleagues from different areas of the company and spend an enjoyable day together.
Our stay in Canada enriched us both professionally and personally. We are taking home many impressions, valuable experiences, and wonderful memories, and we are very grateful that we had the opportunity to go on this special trip. Looking back, the journey was much more than just a visit to another company. It was a valuable experience that extended our horizons and gave us a new perspective beyond our everyday work environment.
