In collaboration with our customer Brömse GmbH & Co. KG from Haldensleben, we have implemented a machine project with a new welding and plastering line, an automatic window fitting machine, and frame logistics.
Before commissioning at the customer’s site, such a large-scale project involves acceptance testing of the machines and their functionality at the Memmingen plant. This is defined in advance in the contract.
The current coronavirus situation, with its restrictions on contact, gave our sales representative Fred-Karsten Karl the idea of conducting the acceptance test via live broadcast. It was important to Brömse GmbH & Co. KG that the machines at the Haldensleben plant were working properly, and the company initially wanted to forego the acceptance test in Memmingen. Fred-Karsten Karl insisted on the possibility of remote acceptance so that the customer could get an idea of the functionality of all machines and we could take advantage of the opportunity to gain further knowledge and experience in this area.
All participants were able to dial in without any problems on the day of the live session. Unfortunately, our existing equipment did not transmit high-quality images, which severely impaired the acceptance process to the extent that Brömse was only able to see very little of the machine operation. A comment by Mr. Brömse summed it up perfectly: “The images of the moon landing weren’t any worse.”
When the inspection, which was subsequently unanimously downgraded to a viewing, was completed, it was clear to us that the existing equipment and our working methods in this area urgently needed to be improved. We completely re-equipped ourselves. Data transmission, equipment, hardware, software, and everything else necessary in this area was revamped, renewed, and optimized.
After the complete machine system had been assembled in Haldensleben, it was accepted by the customer without any further problems. In the end, Mr. Brömse was convinced: “You can build machines, but you still need to work on the acceptance tests with live connections to Memmingen.”
Following the successful installation and upgrade of our digital media equipment, a remote meeting was held with Windor Fensterwerk GmbH. Once again, all participants were able to dial in without any problems, and the camera impressed with its top quality. Every detail of the machines could be seen as if you were there in person. This meant that all outstanding questions could be clarified, and the customer was very satisfied.
This viewing option saved the customer valuable time on the journey to Memmingen. Our sales representative was also able to make effective use of the time saved on travel.
