The 2021 window manufacturing year was also heavily influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic. For manufacturing industries such as mechanical engineering, the primary focus was on the global shortage of raw materials and the resulting price increases. We, too—and therefore you as well—were affected by this.
“Despite all the challenges, we weathered the crisis year of 2021 better than originally expected, and demand for our high-end solutions remains consistently strong. We even set a new record for order intake,” says Martin Urban, managing partner of Urban GmbH & Co. Maschinenbau KG. There is currently a huge surge of interest in URBAN’s groundbreaking CUT welding technology, which produces flawless window surfaces with no visible grooves. URBAN’s technology has immediately established itself as the new industry standard.
URBAN’s high-end machines are in high demand not only in Central Europe, but also in the United Kingdom, for example. “Companies are trying to compensate for the skilled labor shortage caused by Brexit with machine technology. We already have orders with delivery dates extending through the end of 2023 and into 2024,” says Urban. Not only URBAN’s welding and plastering technology, but also its diverse logistics solutions are seeing very high demand.
“This isn’t just about efficiency in the production process; it’s also about the well-being of our employees. After all, window and door units in modern residential construction are getting bigger and bigger—and, naturally, heavier as well. This makes it all the more important to reduce the physical strain on our production staff. With our intelligent unstacking, sorting, and transport solutions, we’re optimizing our processes in multiple ways. Because we streamline assembly processes while also increasing employee satisfaction at our customers’ sites,” explains Fred-Karsten Karl from URBAN Sales.
URBAN’s innovative ideas are now in high demand in the aluminum industry as well. URBAN was not spared from material shortages and price increases. “Compared to others, however, we benefited from our high level of vertical integration. We simply manufactured some components ourselves when they were unavailable. Our team has once again demonstrated that URBAN can always be relied upon,” says Martin Urban with satisfaction.
